Maine Woods Update - Plum Creek Scoping Sessions
The four scoping sessions held by the Land Use Regulation Commission on the Plum Creek development plan are completed and the results are a resounding success!
During the northern sessions, so many local citizens voiced their concerns that the Greenville Board of Selectmen rescinded their endorsement of the Plum Creek Plan (see articles below):
1. KENNEBEC JOURNAL – August 23, 2005 http://kennebecjournal.mainetoday.com/news/local/1891812.shtml Greenville rescinds backing for Plum Creek
2. PORTLAND PRESS HERALD – August 23, 2005 http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/news/state/050823_plumcreek.shtml Moosehead project hits a bump
3. MAINE PUBLIC RADIO – August 22, 2005 Greeville Selectmen Back Off Support Of Plum Creek Development Plan
This, however, is just the beginning. It is critical that this momentum continue over the next months. If you were unable to attend the sessions (or if you did speak but did not submit your written comments) YOU SHOULD SUBMIT YOUR WRITTEN COMMENTS DIRECTLY TO LURC BY SEPTEMBER 7th.
