TAKE ACTION – Plum Creek Development Plan Threatens Moosehead Lake Region and the 100 Mile Wilderness
ATTEND A SCOPING SESSION The Land Use Regulation Commission (LURC) is holding scoping sessions prior to a formal review of the Plum Creek Development Plan because they want to hear what issues are important to the public.
These Sessions are pivotal in determining the future of the Moosehead lake region, and provide a historic opportunity for you to speak out for protection of special natural areas, wildlife habitat, public access, and the wild character of the Maine Woods.
Tuesday, August 16 – Greenville High School Thursday, August 18 – Rockwood Community Building Monday, August 22 – Moose River –Sky Lodge Conference Center Wednesday, August 24 – Hallowell – Maple Hill Farm
All sessions begin at 6:00PM.

We can provide you with everything you need to participate in this historic opportunity: transportation, tips for speaking at a session, sample written comments, background information, etc.
ALL ARE INVITED TO AN INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOP: Do you want to attend a scoping session, but are not sure how to go about it or what to expect? This workshop is open to everyone and is geared toward answering your questions about being an effective participant.
The workshop takes place on Wednesday, August 10, at 7:00 P.M. in Greenville at the Moosehead Marine Museum Map room (upstairs). Please contact Darci Schofield at 695-3596 or darcischofield@midmaine.com for more information.
The workshop will provide:
1) information on how to speak at public hearings 2) sample letters that address conserving the wilderness heritage of the Moosehead region 3) fact sheets on LURC jurisdictions in order to direct your opinions concisely to LURC policy areas 4) information on how the LURC hearings on Plum Creek will be organized (i.e., you may only have five minutes to speak etc.)
