History
The siting of liquefied
natural gas (LNG) terminals on Maine's coast continues to generate controversy
and disrupt communities. LNG is transported in large tankers from foreign ports
to terminals where it is unloaded, regasified, and shipped by pipeline. Public
safety and environmental concerns have been raised concerning these potential
sites.
