Urgent Action Needed on Land for Maine's Future (LMF)
THE ISSUE: The Land for Maine's Future Program is at risk. LMF committed its last conservation dollars last year and the need for land conservation funding is increasingly urgent. Maine citizens cannot afford to wait another year for LMF funding as development threatens the state's special and unique places.
LD 800, sponsored by Senator Mary Andrews and co-sponsored by more than 80 legislators, would ask voters to approve $75 million in funding for LMF, to be spent over four years.
WHAT YOU CAN DO: The legislature is taking a break the week of April 18, so this is a great time to contact your legislators at home.
Legislators' contact information can be found at: http://janus.state.me.us/house/townlist.htm.
Explain to your legislators:
Write a Letter to the Editor of your local paper; this is a powerful way of reaching our elected officials and educating the public.
