Mainers made
Arctic Action Day a success!
In the midst of a stormy day, the
sun came out long enough for us to have a fantastic Maine rally to protect the
Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
Well over 100 people turned out,
took action by cell phone or pen, held signs and got passing traffic to honk. A
local musician performed, we gave out free Ben & Jerry's ice cream and
pro-Arctic tee-shirts (both donated locally), and had great speakers.
Representatives from Senator
Snowe's and Congressman Allen's offices attended, and the energy level was very
high. Journalists from the Portland Press Herald, WGAN, Maine Public Radio and
the Portland Forecaster covered the event.
